Showpiece Jewelry

Statement jewelry is back in fashion and we couldn’t be happier! Nowadays, many of our brides opt for large, opulent and eye-catching pieces that really stand out. Large baubles, stacked bangles or crystal tikkas are becoming more and more popular and really add that missing bit of sparkle to any outfit. Here are some of our favorites:

Real Wedding: Pooja and Vivek

Last week was an eventful one for everyone at SJS. We had our first wedding of the year and it took us all the way to Dubai!

To say that this wedding was amazing is a huge understatement; everything from the guests, to the food, the tranquil location, the stunning decor and the truly lovely couple were beyond fantastic!

It all started with a rooftop engagement soirée which allowed the lovely bride and groom-to-be to welcome all their guests to Dubai. With an Arabian Nights theme, belly dancers and tanoura dancers kept guests entertained and really set the tone for a spectacular week of events!

Friday morning started with a sand storm, but we didn't let that ruin our Mehendi Event. Guest enjoyed many treats including mehendi cookies and cupcakes, an ice cream bar and a live Bollywood cellist.

Later that evening guests enjoyed a Sangeet event, with a Rajasthani theme which really came to life with a Rickshaw Photo Booth, Truck Bar and Pani Puri shots! Guests performed for the bride and groom and Bhangra Dancers and Dhol players kept the party going until 4am!

Saturday was the big day and it included a baraat on camelback, a stunning wedding ceremony and a winter wonderland reception.

We want to thank all the amazing vendors that helped make this wedding a huge success, including the staff at The Ritz-Carlton Dubai, DIFC for going above and beyond with every request we made. To Pooja Studios for the amazing photos and video, DJ Suhel for keeping the party going every day until the early morning hours, Namrata Soni and her team for the amazing glam job on the bride and finally the team at Rock N Roll Entertainment for bringing every events theme to life with the great decor.

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs!

Unique Music Entertainers

It is a universally acknowledged fact: a wedding wouldn’t be the celebration it could be without music. Typically, couples will opt to have a DJ blasting out the tunes at their reception in order to keep guests entertained until the early hours of the morning. There is always a lot of suspense surrounding a couple’s first dance or even when guessing what song will be playing as they take their walks down the aisle. But many of our couples also opt for some variation, using live bands or performers to compliment their existing music needs.

Be it a string quartet at cocktail hour, live performers during the baraat, or even a solo jazz performer at the reception, these additional musicians put a spin on the classic wedding DJ and will really wow your guests. Here are some of our favorite options:

Guaranteed to liven up any Sangeet!

A fun alternative to the traditional wedding DJ

A great way to ensure a lively baraat

A surefire way to keep momentum going during your Baraat

An elegant and sophisticated addition to any event

A delicate alternative to a full live band

An upbeat and slightly more tropical approach to typical wedding music

Can be used to compliment a DJ, wowing your guests with solos over certain tracks

A personal tribute to you and your partner’s favorite musicians

An Indian-inspired twist on the traditional string quartet or solo cellist

Pool Party Décor

Taking inspiration from yesterday's event in Dubai, this blog will look at the importance of décor in making your pool party amazing!

Pool parties have become more and more common as an organized daytime event in the middle of wedding weekends, giving guests a chance to relax and mingle at the same time. Often these will feature some sort of music, while finger foods and ice-cold drinks will be served to keep spirits high. It is important, however, not to overlook the need for décor, as even some minimal touches will help bring your event to life. While it is certainly more important to allocate the bulk of your décor budget to your larger events, you cannot always rely on the existing venue to provide an aesthetically pleasing backdrop. Whether you choose small accents of color or a fully-fledged themed party that gives you an excuse to really get creative and transform the space, here are some of our favorite ideas:
