Pakistani Weddings

I just got called by The Knot about Pakistani Weddings...
I was great to be able to explain how a modern Pakistani Bride can involve her traditions wedding values into a modern wedding.

I explained that at most Pakistani Weddings, the couples get married at home and not a venue. The groom goes to the bride's home.

I also explained how the bride and the grooms sit in separate rooms but the bride and add a spin on this and have bridesmaids that welcome the groom to the home. The bride can buy matching sari's and line up outside to greet the groom.

Also, at most Pakistani weddings if not all, there is no alcohol served. The bride can have some interestingly names mocktails... some of the couple's favorite juices or flavors.

A great question was, how does the bridal party walk down the aisle if the couple is getting married at home and in two separate rooms? That made me think and I remembered how 3 years ago we did introduce the bridal party at the reception. So, they still got a moment to sign and be designated as the bridal party but at the reception not the ceremony.

The food at a Pakistani wedding is also very important and has to be Halal.

They play games such as finding the ring in milk to see who rules the home and the groom paying to get his stolen shoes back.

Interesting conversation and questions I was asked. It comes as second nature to us knowing all this but great to know that the people at The Knot want to know too =)
