Invitations from the US vs. India

South Asian weddings held in the States are becoming increasingly modern - the infusion of American culture and traditions are evident in everything from the bouquet held by the bride as she walks down the isle to the Mandap, to the coordinated outfits of the groomsmen. While brides take an effort to modernize every tradition - they often forget about the first public element of their wedding - the invitation!

The invitation is more than just a piece of paper that lists the details of when and where the events will take place. Addressing this very same topic on their blog, the ZOYA Couture design team states that invitations are a way to communicate the true "emotion, style, and essence of the event".

I love the modern designs! One reason we like ZOYA Couture is that it very easily incorporates religious motifs and other traditional sketches into modern invitation designs. The stationery stands out for its superior quality as they work exclusively on Italian papers and offer innovative packaging including belly bands, book formats, wine boxes, and more.

For brides who have already ordered their invitations - we also recommend them for wedding day materials including menu cards, programs, table numbers, and fun details such as signature cocktails signage!

Instrumental Songs for Walk Down the Aisle

So, we are always being asked by brides and videographers about instumental songs. It is nice to use songs like this especially for our cross cultural weddings. I mean, what is the point in walking down the aisle to an Indian song if the soon to be hubby doesn't understand the words?

Here is a list that one of our interns put together.. you can youtube it and you can hear the words or the instumental versions.. These are the close to newest Bollywood Songs. Hope it helps!

1 Guzarish
2 Chand Sifarish
3 Tumhi Dekho Naa
4 Tu Hi Meri Dost Hai
5 Yeh Dooriyan
6 Kaise Mujhe Tum Milgayi
7 Latika’s Theme From Slumdog Millionaire (MY PERSONAL FAVORITE)
8 Kuch Kum
9 Jashn E Bahara
10 Tujhe Mein Rab Diktha Hai-
11 In Lamhon Ke Daman

Just got to Annapolis!

We got to Annapolis for our wedding this weekend at the Westin. Just listening to music this morning and blogging before going to the rehearsal for Reena and Jeff!

Our staff was being silly after we dropped things of at the hotel for the bride last night. I have said all my prayers for good weather and a perfect wedding for this awesome couple!

Busy Wedding Season

It has been a while since I wrote on the blog.. busy with weddings and brides.

We have a few new interns that started in Aug so it is really nice to help them learn about this industry.

So, what have I been up to.. well, I have been to Florida to visit a new client, Houston to work on our bride Rachana's wedding, we had a lovely wedding last weekend at this phenomenal new venue in NJ (The Venetian), took a break with Jay and went to Atlantic City to the Borgata... just the usual. Oh, plus, now, Jay and I did move into Manhattan! Finally! It is so nice to be 4 blocks from work.

I will post photos of the wedding from last weekend. Very lovely family and very nice people. I have to share the venue photos.. they are gorgeous...
