Real Wedding: Tanvi and Sankeerth

We had a great wedding this weekend with Tanvi and Sankeerth. A little heat wave was not stopping them from having a great time at their wedding!

Saturday began with a horse-led baraat up Park Avenue. Needless to say that we had many NYC residents and tourists join in the Baraat! Afterward all the guests headed inside breathtaking Cipriani for a emotive ceremony followed by a stunning reception.

Guest enjoyed a delicious meal catered by Bukhara Grill and danced the night away thanks to DJ Sharad. One of the highlights of the night was the live painter that was on hand to do a live canvas painting of the festivities as a keep sake for the bride and groom!

As always we want to thank our great vendors who helped us every step of the way: Deb and Tony from Cipriani, Garrett and Christian from Star Group and Jeannie from Atlas Floral.

Here are a few words we just got from the groom:

Sonal, Ruth and Melissa -

I just wanted to pass along my sincere thanks to you all for the wonderful job you did putting the event together. It was absolutely beautiful and more importantly the guests had an amazing time. We received so many compliments saying it was the best wedding/party that they had been to.

Thanks Again,
Sankeerth

Buffets and Food Stations

Buffets and food stations are a great alternative to a sit down dinner, providing guests with a variety of great cuisine at you wedding. The deliciousness of the food can quickly be overshadowed by the long line guests have to wait on before they get their food. To avoid this problem, we suggest that our brides have 1 buffet and/or food station per every 100 guests. This prevents guests from crowding one buffet line and still allows the guest to choose what they want to eat. We get asked all the time what is the magic formula to prevent long lines and this far, this is the best best solution ( just always make sure you do double sided buffet lines).

Real Weddings: Kajal and Bhavik

Another weekend, another successful wedding! We couldn't be happier with this weekend and how everything turned out. It all started with a fabulous "Welcome Soiree" at the Crowne Plaza, Danbury, where their grand ballroom was transformed into a vision of white. Friends and family put together a series of performances for our lovely couple, followed by a long night of dancing.

Sunday morning turned out to be perfect with amazing weather for our hour long Baraat where the groom's side got the party started for the day. The highlight of the ceremony was the incredible suspended Mandap by Atlas Floral which left everyone is awe!

Later in the evening, everyone headed to the spectacular newly opened Aria Banquets Hall. The venue is simply breathtaking with its marble flooring, grand staircase and stunning views. Guests enjoyed great food from Moghul Catering and DJ Raj kept the party going all night long. Even the bride's little dog, Maya, made a surprise appearance!

We want to send a huge THANK YOU to all the vendors who helped us make this such a great event including: Maloman Studios, The Rad Photographer, Cesar at The Crowne Plaza, Joe and Lori at Aria, Jersery Street Furniture and Durant Rentals, DJ Raj, Rajeeve at Moghul and Jeannie at Atlas Florist.

Poly Cotton Linen

When deciding on decor for your reception one of the most important factors is the linen. Many people go over the top with their decor and end up going with plain white linen. This can create some disconnect between the table and the centerpiece causing the room to look unbalanced. We always suggest that our clients upgrade their linen.

One of the main concerns when upgrading linen can be the cost. A great way to add some color and texture to your tables without adding to much to the budget is to go with a Poly Cotton linen. There are many different options and colors to chose from!

Here are some of our favorite:

Poly Dupioni

Poly Burlap

Poly Bengalore Silk

Make sure to go over some of these options with your decorator when finalizing your decor.

Candles as Favors

Deciding on a wedding favor can be difficult. Candles are a popular wedding favor because they come in a variety of scents and sizes, providing endless options. Candles can be personalized with your monogram or you can choose one with a unique scent. Candles still allow you to add your personal mark and is something everyone will be sure to use. Here are a few our of favorite candle sources:
1. The scents from Pacifica Candles not only make you feel like you are on a vacation at a far away destination, but they also offer soy candles.

2. Scents and Sprays provides multiple candle brands, including our favorite Bob's Flower Shoppe (Trapp Candle No. 13).

3. Molton Brown's scents range from energizing scents, such as their Black Pepper Forte, to relaxing scents like the Heavenly Gingerlily Medio.

Destination Weddings- U.S. DJs vs. Local DJs

Choosing your DJ is one of the most important aspects of planning your wedding, as the DJ can really make or break your party. A lot of our brides who have destination weddings consider hiring a local DJ rather than flying one in from the states, but there are a few things other than just cost that you need to consider:

The Language Barrier – You need to make sure that your DJ speaks and understands English so that you can clearly convey your musical wants to him.

Announcements – The language barrier becomes particularly important if your DJ is also going to be the MC of your event. You want to make sure that all announcements made are clear and that all name pronunciation is correct.

Music Choices – Music tastes differ country to country, so you need to make sure that your DJ is familiar with all of your favorite songs. Just realize that you will need to spend extra time and energy to make sure that the DJ has or can get your music choices. Especially, if you are having an Indian wedding, the DJ may not know the versions you are looking for if it is Indian music. Also, they may not know what song to play when.

Different Wedding Traditions – Wedding traditions are distinct in different countries, so you need to be aware of that and make sure that you clearly communicate your vision for your wedding to your DJ

Real Wedding: Ritu and Ankush

Congratulations Ritu & Ankush!

This weekend we had a fantastic time at Ritu and Ankush’s wedding at TriBeCa Rooftop! It began with the horse-led baraat down the cobblestoned TriBeCa streets, followed by the ceremony and cocktail hour held up on the rooftop overlooking gorgeous views of the city. After cocktail hour, we all headed down to the ballroom for the reception, which was beautifully decorated by Nora from The Peloton Group. Guests enjoyed a delicious meal catered by Bukhara Grill and then danced the night away to the great music of the Dylan Matthews Band and DJ Dennis from IEDJS!

In addition to these great vendors, we would also like to thank All Event Decorators, Daniel Kriger (Photographer), Reel Times (Videographer), Caliber Farms (Baraat Horse), Studio Anand (Sitar & Tabla players), Volatino (Mariachi Band), and Cinderella Brides (Hair & Makeup).
