We just love it when couples decide to tie the knot in our home city! There is nothing more exciting nor exhilarating than an NYC wedding. Home to some gorgeous boutique event spaces and world-famous historical hotels, there really is something for everyone. With the warmer weather approaching, it’s also a great time to take advantage of the city’s outdoor venues and glamorous rooftops, which offer unparalleled views and stunning backdrops for your special celebrations.

Many of our couples pick NYC as a destination for their wedding, flying in from all over the US to celebrate their special day in the Big Apple. Others are local to the Tri-State area and so choose the city that never sleeps as the location for their upcoming nuptials. Sunena & Sunny

Another amazing New York City wedding this past weekend. Our couple, Sunena & Sunny, had their beautiful ceremony at the Mandarin Oriental New York, surrounded by 150 of their closest family and friends. The events started with a one of the kind baraat that in Central Park and around Columbus Circle with Mandarin Security and NYC Police escort! It was definitely show stopping.  The ceremony and reception had breathtaking views of the City. Elegant Affairs made sure the décor was chic and elegant in tones of ivory and white, while DJ Raj had guests dancing the night away. During cocktail hour Dolce Ensemble provided the entertainment with a string quartet that played both contemporary and Indian music. Thank you to all of the vendors, including Fred Marcus for photo and video, for making Sunny and Sunena's day so special. This was truly a New York experience.

 

Inside Weddings Spring 2011

We were fortunate enough to have one of our favorite couples to be feature in the Spring 2011 issue of Inside Weddings. Dimple and Previn were married on May 22, 2010 at the Picnic House at Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Bright colors, florals, and smiles filled the ceremony, while the elegant reception was held at sophisticated Brooklyn Museum. This is one of our favorite weddings. Take a look.

Steps to Getting Married in New York

New York is a wonderful state and you have everything at your finger tips. Why not get married here? To do so you need the following information:

STEP 1: You must apply for a marriage license at any town or city clerk in the state.
Both the bride and groom must appear in person, no proxies.

The ceremony cannot take place within 24 hours from the exact time the license was issued.

The license is valid for 60 days, beginning after the day it is issued.

The fee is $35-$40

A Marriage License issued in New York can be used anywhere within New York State but cannot be used outside New York State.

When you apply for the marriage license you must bring with you proof of age and identity. Accepted documents are:

- Birth Certificate
- Baptismal Record
- Naturalization record
- Census Record

AND One of the Following:

- Driver’s License
- Passport
- Employment Picture ID
- Immigration Record

A blood test is not required to obtain a marriage license in New York.

STEP 2: Have the ceremony. Destination weddings are great but if you are concerned with the legality of an out of country marriage it may be beneficial to have a civil ceremony. Here are the steps to follow to having a civil ceremony:

You can attend the local City Clerk’s office to have a civil ceremony.
No appointments or reservations required.

The ceremony is performed during normal business hours.

Bride and groom must appear together with the same identity information used to obtain the marriage license.

Have your marriage license.
You must have at least one witness, over the age of 18 and they must bring proper identification.

You will receive a Certificate of Marriage Registration that is the official document for your wedding.

Having a wedding in New York City in the summer as opposed to a beach location can be just as beautiful. Here are some reasons why:

· Weekends are relatively less crowded in New York City. This ensures your event will run more smoothly, rather than having to deal with crowded beaches.

· Long weekends in New York City are quiet because a lot of people are out of town. They generally go to places like the Jersey Shore or the Hamptons.

· In the summer, there is discounted parking in New York City. This makes it easier for your guests.

· The weather is just as beautiful in New York City in the summer as a beach location whether you have an indoor event or outdoor.

· Room rates are usually lower, so it’s a good time for guests to take advantage of staying in the city.

· New York City has amazing venues that are perfect for summer weddings. Some include The New York Botanical Garden, The Battery Gardens, and Central Park

Having a wedding in New York City during the summer instead of a beach location has many advantages, and is an option you should consider for your event!
