Paper Welcome Bags

Last week, we were asked for welcome bags ideas which are non cloth by one of our brides. I feel that paper welcome bags are great because they are reusable, cost efficient and a smart way to help the environment. Plus you can make them in a cute and stylish way. Hotels we love in Scottsdale, Arizona

With all the traveling we do for destination weddings, we get asked all the time.. "What do you recommend?".
Here are some magnificent desert venues in one of my favorite cities: Scottsdale
These venues will surely provide memorable and unique experience for  your weddings.

1. The Phoenician Scottsdale- Your premier luxury resort destination
The venue surrounded by the natural beauty of floral gardens and huge mountains views. It also provides a stunning backdrop to your wedding.

2.JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort-
My favorite.. you can have an intimate wedding ceremony or a magnificent reception poolside.  The spa is amazing and there are multiple ballrooms/ venue spaces to choose from.

3. The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa
Close to shopping and so much to do around this venue. But still, The Westin is one of the most beautiful desert destination in Scottsdale. It is surrounded by dramatic desert sunsets and nearby mountain ranges and, of course, world famous golf.

Questions to ask for your Farm Wedding

Many couples are deciding to have an alternative venue for their big day and are deterring from the normal hotel ballroom. A popular site is your local lush farm with wide open space. When planning your event at this new site, it is important to ask the right questions to make sure everything is covered from what to do about restrooms to your rentals. Here are some questions to keep in mind for your next meeting at the farm:

1.Is there a place for the bride and groom to get ready on site?
2.Where do guests park?
3.Where can transportation drop off guests? Will the fit on the property? Where can they park?
4.Are there restrooms for guests? Do extra restrooms need to be brought in?
5.Is there security? Is security needed for the event?
6.Is there running water?
7.Is there heat source or does one need to be brought in?
8.What is the power source and how much is available?
9.What does the caterer do with trash?
10.What insurance is required and are there any permits required?
11.Are there any restricted areas?

Cake Displaying

Cake displaying is a great way for couples to express their unique sense of style. Couples can choose to put their names and the date of the wedding. They could also write out their new initials as a couple. Quotes could also be written on the plate such as, “I Love You”, “I do” etcetera. A few simple hearts surrounding and circling the cake looks beautiful. Cake displaying is a very trendy and cool display of artistry amongst the couple.

Sangria Bar!

One of the hottest trends in weddings is a Sangria Bar! Not only is it fun for your guests but it is a great way to bring some creativity to your big day! It is easy to mak, easy to drink and a huge hit during summer! And one of the beauties of Sangria recipes is that you can use a variety of different wines in the recipe mix and create different ones! Here are some ideas for you:

  • Standard Sangria: Always with fruit and sugar and watered down with something fizzy.
  • White Sangria : The same as above but, shockingly, with white wine.
  • Cava Sangria : Sangria made with Cava, Catalonia's sparkling wine, a local alternative to champagne.
  • Sidra Sangria : Combining cider with sangria tastes quite nice

Table set up

When it comes to wedding trends, one of our favorites is mixing square, round tables, rectangle tables and "X" tables for the reception.
The shape and the style in which the tables are arranged define the décor of the reception.

A square table offers a sense of dining intimacy that is missing from the vastness of a round table. It can be placed in the center of a room, against a wall or in a corner. In addition, a square shape gives you more usable space and is fun.

Long tables are different and give the wedding a European/ Italian-style dining feel. It also creates a family feel where everyone is next to each other.

Round tables give the guests a sense of unity.

Whether they are small, oval or round tables, they are very elegant and normally offered by all venues. Tables can be strewn across the ballroom or arranged in small clusters such that conversation is not constrained.

But, the latest, hottest trend to take center stage is this X shaped table. It makes a fun area where about 80 guests can sit together. The X table really adds that sophisticated touch and also is very unique.

Mashed potatoes bar

One of the hottest trends right now in stations is a mashed potato bar and it’s one of our favorites! It is a fantastic idea because everyone loves mashed potatoes and it is so interactive and unique. Not only is it delicious but it is fun for your guests. To add some decoration to the station, caterers today are serving them up in martini glasses and then guests get to choose various toppings they want to add. Yes, you can add the usual, cheese, bacon and capers but you can also do lobster cream sauce, basil pesto and cabernet gravy! Take a look at some of the photos
