Handwritten Thank You Notes

The wedding planning process does not come to an end after you return from your honeymoon. It is very important to thank your family members and friends for their time, their generosity, and their thoughtfulness in being part of your wedding.

Handwritten cards might take a bit longer than printed ones, but these are much warmer and more special that your guests will truly appreciate. A simple message thanking your family members and friends on helping you celebrate your special day and helping to build your new life as a married couple would sure to leave everyone feeling all warm and fuzzy.

As you return from your honeymoon, the thought of writing personal thank-you notes to all of your guests may seem daunting, but definitely not impossible with these tips:

1. Save your guest list you used for your invitations. This saves yourself time and energy and already gives you a head start.

2. Traditionally, thank-you notes from newlyweds are written in black or blue ink on folded notepaper in ivory or white. Personal stationary has become more popular over the years. Monogrammed note cards are the new trend. Important to remember not to use your married name until after the wedding.

3. General rule is to send a thank-you note 2 weeks after you receive a wedding gift before the wedding. This saves you some thank you notes after the wedding and you can immediately check off these names after the cards have been sent.

4. It is appropriate to send out thank-you notes to wedding guests within the month after you return from your honeymoon.

5. Make sure each thank-you note is personalized. Mention the gift if you received one. You can create a template for guests you are not as familiar with.

Thank you for taking the time to share our special day with us. Your presence made our celebration more special.

Thank You Note: Safal & Amit

We just got the sweetest thank you note from our couple that got married in Puerto Rico earlier this month...

Dear Sonal, Ruth and the SJS Team,

We will start with the word AMAZING! There are few things in life that are more difficult than leaving a positive lasting impression on Indian parents, and you were able to have our parents think of you and the team as one of their own by the end of our wedding. From the very beginning of the entire planning process (and we are talking about over a year worth of planning – oh boy!), the responsiveness of the team to our various requests, concerns or ridiculous inquiries, no matter the time of day or night, made us feel like we had access to your team 24 hours a day. Most importantly, the fact our parents’ and we could rely so heavily on your team to coordinate each detail of every event with such confidence, allowed us to truly cherish the time we had to celebrate this festive occasion with our family and friends. The stress that comes with planning a wedding can be overwhelming for a family, but your team was able to put our families at ease and allow us to enjoy every minute of our wedding, and for that we cannot thank you enough. The entire weekend was a huge success and it couldn’t have been done without you! Remember, our next family get together is Thanksgiving and we have set a place at the table for the whole team – we look forward to seeing you then!!! And don’t forget, even though our wedding is over, we have another family wedding with the SJS team just around the corner.

Subir and I just wanted to say thank you SO MUCH for all your help over the past few months and most especially the last two days. The Art of A Thank You

Your wedding has come and gone and you are now left with thousands of memories and many people to thank. From friends and coworkers to relatives many people were integral to making you big day a success, so its important to show them your appreciation.

When sending a thank you note you want to try and be as personal as possible and all notes should be sent out no later than 3 months after the weeding.

Make sure that the note is hand written and if the person gave you a gift other than cash you should mention it on the card and make a cute comment about how it has come so handy. Even consider including a photo of you and your hubby using such item.

Many of our couples get stationary printed at the same time they get their invitation done, this way its easy to start them as soon as you are back from your honeymoon. Remember to keep the note short and sweet.
