As a general rule, its best to let friends and family know
about your big day around six months prior or eight months for far away
destination weddings. Sending Save The
Dates this early in advance give guests plenty of time to book their travel,
save some cash, and ask days off from work.
Any later it might as well be an invitation. Invitations should ideally be sent out eight
weeks before the wedding. Timely
invitations also allow you an earlier RSVP deadline, which should be about
three weeks before the wedding, leaving you enough time to sort out the final
count for the caterer and seating charts.
