Vermilion Food Tasting

Earlier this week we had the pleasure of attending a special tasting of the new menu at Vermilion NYC. We were delighted dish after dish with amazing flavors and unexpected twists on some traditional Indian Dishes. To say we were stuffed when we left is an understatement.

We have done many events here in the past and were excited to see how they have reinvented their menu. This is the perfect location if you are looking for a unique venue in The City. It is perfectly located in Midtown, offers an amazing blank canvas space and great staff.

Make sure to check this space out if you are looking to host a fun Sangeet, Mehendi or Garba event, or an engagement party.

The Rainbow Room

We were invited to tour the fully restored Rainbow Room this past week, and what a treat it was! This landmark event space offers a circular, rotating dance floor, floor to ceiling windows with the stunning cityscape as your backdrop, and thousands of hanging crystals.  This would be the perfect NYC venue for your special day and to wow all your guests.

Unique Napkin Folds For Your Reception

Your napkin fold might be the last thing on your mind during your wedding planning process. But a unique napkin arrangement is a simple way to add that extra little something to your reception. Just remember to make sure this is included on your hotel's Banquet Event Order along with a picture.

Here are some of our favorites:

Everything You Need For Your Home Event

Your home could be the perfect space for your pre-wedding event. It would be a one of a kind and personable venue for you and your guests. However, your home would not have all the supplies and equipment that an event space would normally have. Everything would need to be rented, from the glassware to the napkins, to the serving trays and toothpicks for butler-passed appetizers.

Here are some essential things to remember for a successful event:
  • Hire staff: servers, bartenders, cleanup, and runners to restock the buffet.
  • Always designate who will be removing the trash at the end of the event and confirm if there is a fee.
  • There should always be someone present during delivery to check off each item and to ensure all equipment is set up in the correct location and is working properly.
  • Designate who will be vacuuming right before the event begins.
  • Always order extras of everything: tables, linens, glassware, silverware, etc.
  • Always order 2 generators: all vendors will be sourcing their power through these and you want to make sure there is ample power for everyone.
  • Always confirm with the caterer that they will be serving coffee and tea after dinner.
  • Ask all vendors what their attire will be for your event. We like everyone to be in professional black. But for vendors who will be on stage, such as the band, it would be nice for their attire to match your decor and color scheme.

Here is our checklist of what you will need for your perfect home event:

SJS Real Weddings: Shereen and Saad

We are back in action after a jam packed weekend of festivities in Syracuse this Labor Day Weekend. Our client hosted 500 of their closest friend and family for 3 days of fun, love and dancing.

It all began with the Mayoon Event at the bride's home where we transformed their tennis court and left guest feeling like they were in Pakistan. Guest enjoyed the night thanks to the traditional Bollywood songs of Tina Kundalia.

Friday, everyone was ready to party at the energetic Mehendi held at the On Center in Syracuse, where friends and family prepared over six performances including a very romantic and emotional serenade from the groom to his lovely bride to be.

The festivities all came to an end with a stunning Nikka Ceremony and Reception at the Turning Stone Casino and Resort. Guests jaws dropped when they entered the ballroom and were left in awe by the gorgeous decor.

We want to thank the team at Elegant Affairs for their amazing work on each and every event, the decor was truly breathtaking; to DJ Manan Shah for keeping the party going and to Lilly Rivera from Bridal Gal for keeping our bride stunning the entire weekend. We cannot wait to see all the official images from Foto Impressions who where there to capture everything.

Congrats to the happy couple! We truly miss you.
